Local artist wins mayor’s award Oct 6, 2009 South Bend Tribune ARTS INDIANAPOLIS — Chris Jaworski, a South Bend native now residing in Union, was chosen from more than 300 artists to receive the 2009 Mayor’s Award for his recycled farm steel sculptures. The award was presented by the Mayors of Indianapolis and surrounding communities along with the Penrod Society and was followed by a reception in the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The Penrod Arts Fair typically draws a crowd of 30,000. This was Jaworski’s first year at the Penrod Arts Fair, and his work was chosen to be included in the fair by a jury of professional artists and gallery owners. He also received best sculpture awards in the 2008 Krasl Art Fair in St. Joseph and the Carmel (Ind.) International Arts Fair.
