Harrison, Chief Curator/Acting Curator of American and Contemporary Art , Chrysler Museum of Art “Mr. Jaworski’s welded steel assemblage is artful, elegant, and extremely smart in its use of found and manipulated materials. Making use of everything from wrenches and springs to gears and saw teeth, he has fashioned a splendid bird-like beast that is both sculpturally whole and corporeally convincing. There’s not a wasted or extraneous piece in the entire assemblage. Working from the skeleton out, one gets a vivid sense of the actual, living presence of this crouching beast ready to “spring” (sorry, but the sculpture invites puns like this), from the clutch of its claws to the shriek from its open beak. “Splendid work!” PERMANENT COLLECTIONS The Kinsey Institute Gallery for Art and Artifacts, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana Curator of Art, Artifacts and Photography: Catherine Johnson-Roehr SELECTED GROUP EXHIBITIONS 2010 “Fort Wayne Museum of Art Member Exhibition” Fort Wayne, IN Box Factory for the Arts, St. Joseph, MI 2008 “The Dirty Show International Erotic Art Exhibition” West Bloomfield, MI "Environments" Space 237 Gallery, Toledo, OH Myela Slattery, Exhibition Coordinator “We here at Space 237 Galleries and Studios felt absolutely fortunate to show Chris Jaworski’s creature sculptures in our 2007 Fall Show. Not only is his skill and technique incredible, but more importantly the presence of his pieces are not that of just art, but of actual personalities and joy. Chris gave us the opportunity to bring a smile to everyone who walked through our doors. Generally viewers feel slightly intimidated by artwork at a gallery, but everybody seemed comfortable with his sculptures. We had a group come in, and absentmindedly pet a dinosaur while they talked to each other. A family came in, and I watched a little girl hold a conversation with one of the birds. I even found myself speaking and making noises for them. They are truly magical creatures. It’s hard to write about Chris’s sculptures without incorporating individual accounts, b/c his pieces affect you on such a personal level. With that said, during the show I was personally going through one of the roughest moments in my life due to family tragedy and illness. No matter how sad or frustrated I came to work, just stepping in the gallery would give me a sense of peace and joy. Every so often I believe art has the ability to capture a spirit, and I certainly believe Chris has accomplished that. Rather than telling the metal he uses in his pieces what to be, he lets it tell him what it wants to be. In that organic process he is able create more than just objects and art, he also creates happiness. In a world where happiness can often seem hard to find, Chris’s sculptures are a must for everyone. Not a must see, but a must experience.” 2007 “18th National Juried Exhibition” Viridian Artists, New York, NY Juror: Charlotta Kotik, Curator Brooklyn Museum of Art “The Sensual Nude” Limner Gallery, Hudson, NY “May Day – All Things Bright and Beautiful” Aurora Colors Gallery, Petaluma, CA “Michiana Annual Art Competition” Box Factory for the Arts, St. Joseph, MI Juror: Carl Forsland, Great Lakes Pastel Society “Hobart Arts League National Juried Competition” Hobart, IN Juror: Robert Stanley 2006 28th Annual Elkhart Juried Regional Art Exhibit” The Midwest Museum of American Art, Elkhart, IN Jurors: Christy DeHoog Johnson, Adjunct Professor Kendall College of Art & Design Grand Rapids, MI and Mr. Mark Ruschman, Owner/Director, Ruschman Gallery, Indianapolis, IN 2005 “27th Annual Elkhart Juried Regional Art Exhibition” The Midwest Museum of American Art, Elkhart, IN Jurors: Nick Antonakis, Professor of Arts, Robin vanRooyen, Professor of Arts, Grand Rapids Community College, MI GALLERIES Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad Street, St. Joseph, MI The Timmel Collection Gallery of Fine Art, 133 Main St, Saugatuck, MI Blue Heron Artworks, The Village at Winona, 807 E Canal St., Winona Lake, IN Your Unique Finds, 700 S.
